Harbor and Helm are Binnacle's two core offerings — each compelling on its own, and more powerful together.
Harbor keeps your systems running. Helm makes them work smarter.
Start with Harbor to get a stable, secure foundation — then add Helm to find and eliminate the manual bottlenecks slowing your team down. Most clients run both because the gains compound: reliable infrastructure makes automation more effective, and automation reduces the support burden. Together, they form a complete operational platform built around your firm.
Unlimited Help Desk
Your team can call, text, or email any time — no billable-hour counter in the background. Flat-rate support removes the hesitation that costs firms hours every month. Staff ask the moment something comes up, not after deciding whether it's worth a ticket.
Network & Equipment
From firewall configuration and managed switches to workstation procurement and CAD hardware, we spec, source, and maintain the infrastructure your firm depends on. When equipment fails, we own the resolution — not just the advice.
Endpoint Security & Patching
Every device on your network is protected, monitored, and current. We deploy endpoint detection and response tooling, enforce patch cycles, and keep your environment ahead of vulnerabilities — not reacting to them after the fact.
Microsoft 365 & Cloud
We deploy, configure, and manage the full Microsoft 365 stack — Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, Intune, and more. Licensing is handled, security defaults are locked in, and your team gets the full value of the platform without the administrative overhead.
Backup & Data Protection
Automated, verified backups with clear recovery objectives. We design and manage strategies that protect your firm's data and give you a tested path back from ransomware, hardware failure, or accidental deletion — before you ever need it.
Compliance & Vendor Management
For firms with federal contracts or defense-adjacent work, we support CMMC compliance from gap assessment through technical controls. We also own vendor escalations on your behalf — your team shouldn't be on hold with an ISP or software vendor when we can handle it instead.

Before we automate anything, we map it. We work with your team to document workflows, identify bottlenecks, and surface where automation delivers the highest return — solving real operational problems, not implementing tools for their own sake.
Workflow Automation
Using Microsoft Power Automate, we build automations that eliminate repetitive handoffs, approval chains, and copy-paste work across your firm. Less manual effort means fewer errors, faster turnaround, and more time on the work that actually bills.
Data Cleanup & Migration
Messy, inconsistent, or fragmented data is a hidden tax on productivity. We clean, consolidate, and migrate data sets — whether you're moving between platforms, reconciling years of records, or preparing a clean foundation for reporting and automation.
Power BI & Data Analytics
We design and build dashboards in Power BI that surface the metrics your team actually uses — project status, utilization, financial health — without requiring anyone to manually pull and format reports each week.
Compliance Reporting
Compliance documentation doesn't have to be a last-minute scramble. We build automated reporting workflows that keep audit-ready records current — so your firm can respond to client questionnaires and regulatory requirements without the fire drill.
Project Consulting
Not every engagement starts with a defined scope. We help firms assess where technology and automation fit into their operations, prioritize initiatives by impact, and build a roadmap grounded in how the firm actually works — not what a vendor is selling.
Predictable pricing. No billable hours.
We price by team size and servers, not by the hour. This model aligns our interests with yours — we succeed when your team stays productive.
IT built around relationships, not invoices
Binnacle Technologies was founded to remove the "how much will this cost?" friction that holds most IT relationships back. When your team is afraid to ask a simple question because they think it'll show up on the next invoice, efficiency suffers.
We have deep roots in the architecture, engineering, and construction space, and we bring that same operational focus to any firm that values precision, reliability, and a technology partner who understands the work. Our Microsoft partnership gives clients access to the full depth of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, managed and secured properly.
For firms with federal contracts or defense-adjacent work, we support CMMC compliance efforts as part of a broader security posture — not as a one-time checkbox. We select vendor partners who share that commitment to substance over upsell.
Jon Shults
"We are not simply an IT support vendor. Our services are shaped by what AEC firms actually need — not by what is most convenient for us to deliver."
What our clients say
We were having issues so often we figured we needed someone on-site full time. A few weeks with Binnacle and that stopped being a conversation.
We were 20 people when we started with Binnacle. We've tripled since then. The fact that IT was never a bottleneck had everything to do with that.
I assumed this level of service would cost enterprise money. Eight years in, I'm still getting an enterprise experience at a price that makes sense for my business.
Common questions
Common questions, clearly answered.
Is my firm too big or too small?
No. Because our flat-rate pricing scales with your team size, we work effectively with firms of all sizes — from small practices to larger operations.
How will I know what I'm paying for?
Every monthly invoice lists your team members and servers by name. There are no mystery line items — just a clear accounting of exactly what's covered.
What does the onboarding process look like?
We start with a complimentary network consultation to understand your current setup and goals. From there we build a transition plan that minimizes disruption to your team's day-to-day work.
Do I have to use Microsoft 365?
Yes — it's the platform we build on. If you already have a Microsoft 365 tenant we assume it; if you're coming from Google Workspace or another service, we handle the migration. Most firms are glad they made the switch once they're settled in.
